On July 27, 2023, USCIS announced a second round of Random Selection for H-1B Cap Registration for employers who had previously submitted the 2024 H-1B Cap Registration.
USCIS randomly selects candidates from the pool of submitted H-1B CAP candidates. Depending on the year USCIS might conduct a second round of selections, like the one announced in late July.
H-1B Registration usually occurs in the month of March, when the employer or their attorney must create a USCIS online account to register the potential employee. After registration, the waiting game begins, when the first round of selections occurs. If selected, the employer must file an H-1B Petition. This process can be repeated until USCIS reaches its limit of selected candidates.
In the July 27 announcement, USCIS stated the following “We will announce once we have completed this second selection process and have notified all prospective petitioners with selected registrations from this round of selection that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the beneficiary named in the applicable selected registration.”
